Burlington County is located in the southern portion of New Jersey and is part of the Philadelphia- Camden-Wilmington Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes the Pennsylvania counties of Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Chester and Delaware and the New Jersey counties of Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Salem.

Burlington County is the largest county in the State of New Jersey.  The County covers 827 square miles and contains an area of 529,351 acres of which 524,160 acres are fast land and 5,191 acres are water. The County is located in the southern portion of the state and it is bordered on the north by Mercer County and Monmouth County, on the northeast by Ocean County, on the south by Atlantic County, on the west by Camden County and on the northwest by the Delaware River which separates New Jersey from Pennsylvania.  It is connected to the City of Philadelphia and the State of Pennsylvania by three bridges: (1) the Burlington-Bristol, (2) the Tacony-Palmyra and (3) the New Jersey-Pennsylvania Turnpike Bridges.

The 2017 American Community Survey Estimate from the U.S. Census states population in Burlington County was 448,734, with a 2000 population of 449,192, which is a 5.98% increase over the year 2000 census.  The most recent statistics indicate a moderate population growth trend for Burlington County.
